Portugal is still on the limelight. Tourism is still booming and the Real Estate Market keeps being a strong area to invest, with prices continuing to rise.

And, for the second year straight, Portugal was named “World’s Leading Destination” by the World Travel Awards along with the Portuguese Capital being one of the big winners: Lisbon was elected “Best City Destination” and “Best Destination for a City Break”.

This was also a historic year for Portugal, with the ceremony being held in the capital itself and the country being granted 16 awards, most of them known by the “tourism Oscars”.

The competition was strong, with Portugal facing amazing countries such as Brazil, Greece, Indonesia, Sri Lanka and Jamaica but still, it was re-elected as the best destination in the world for tourism.

Categories were diverse and the whole country got to be honored in the ceremony. The Madeira Island was awarded the “World’s Leading Island Destination”, Sintra’s Natural Park won the best leading conservation company in the world and the Unesco Global Geopark of Passadiços do Paiva was also awarded “World’s Leading Adventure Tourist Attraction”.
